However, only Afar men are permitted to enter the mosques. Many Afar women are pious, but none of them can set foot in their religious buildings. Instead, women practice their prayers privately at home and hear religious teachings and news secondhand from their husbands, brothers, and other male family members. Furthermore, Muslim women are considered to be unclean during their monthly cycles and cannot pray or participate in any religious activities during that time. Please pray for Afar women, and ask the Father to draw them to Himself. Pray that they will hear and understand the gospel and accept Christ's cleansing once and for all so they can come before the Father at any time. Intercede also for Afar men who enter the mosque daily. Ask God to open their eyes and hearts to seek truth: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find . . ." (Matthew 7:7-8 ESV).
<website />

East Asian Diaspora of Rome, Italy

Pray for the large concentration of Chinese in Milan who have limited access to churches and minimal gospel presence overall. There are now a number of groups and churches among them as well as leaders whom the Lord has raised up. There have been more than 100 baptisms within these people groups. Praise the Lord! Please intercede for these groups and these new believers. He also trains younger pastors from different villages. However, he is weighed down with discouragement. He has chronic back and leg pain almost every night. He has seen different physicians and specialists but still has no clear diagnosis or treatment for relief. One doctor has said that it may be psychosomatic because all lab and diagnostic testing show normal results. Further, he is also discouraged about his young adult son who recently has been stricken with an illness that weakens him. The son has been encouraged to seek medical attention, but he is fearful and is avoiding it. Please pray for the Lord's intervention to attend to their needs.
<website />

People of Central Taiwan

Pray for a clear understanding in central Taiwan's Buddhist community that God is holy and good, despite suffering in the world. Pray that they will understand that suffering does not mean that God is absent, disinterested or unkind (John 16:33). Pray that they will see God as compassionate and present, not distant from pain, and that He desires a unique relationship with them (Psalm 34:18). Ask the Lord to help them find hope, peace, and light in Christ who is always working for the good of those who love Him and are "called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28b ESV).
<website />

Peoples of Madagascar

Pray for the university student ministry in Madagascar's capital city of Antananarivo. Half of Madagascar's population is 20 years old or under, making youth and university students a critical focus in reaching this island nation with the gospel. Through the ministry of Madagascar Team members, every Thursday, a group of university students gather to pray, study, and share the Word of God. Please pray that they will grow in their knowledge of God's Word and boldly share the gospel with other students on campus.
<website>http://www.imb.org/sub-saharan-africa/</website>

Peoples of Southern Sumatra, Indonesia

(soo-MAH-trah) - Believers write: "Please pray for our Language Center. Buddhists, Muslims, and Hindus heard His story, but many were not interested in learning more about Jesus. Please pray that the Father will continue to work in the lives of those precious people who heard the gospel, drawing them to Himself! Pray that He will prompt them to pick up a Bible and read it or reach out to a believing friend. Pray that just as He did for Lydia in the Book of Acts, the Lord will open their hearts to pay attention to the life-saving, life-transforming gospel message. "One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul" (Acts 16:14 ESV). Pray for believers throughout Colombo not to grow weary in sharing His story, but patiently abide in the Lord, obey Him, and trust Him to bring the harvest.
<website />
